GGSL Fall 2026 – Greentown Girls Softball League

Welcome to the GGSL Fall 2026 season! This recreational softball program is designed for girls in the Greentown, Indiana area who want to learn the game, improve their skills, and have fun in a positive, team-centered environment.

Our Fall Rec League focuses on player development, good sportsmanship, and a love of the game. Players will have the opportunity to practice key softball skills, learn game rules, and experience real game situations in a supportive setting.

Program Dates

Start Date: September 1, 2026

End Date: October 17, 2026

The season runs for approximately seven weeks. The schedule will typically include weeknight practices and weeknight games. Final practice and game schedules will be shared with families after teams are formed.

Eligibility

Age & Birthdate Requirements

  • Youngest Eligible Birthdate: September 1, 2013 (on or after)
  • Oldest Eligible Birthdate: August 31, 2021 (on or before)

Additional Eligibility Info: Eligibility is based on the player’s age as of September 1, 2026.

Players will be placed in appropriate age divisions to ensure balanced teams, age-appropriate rules, and a safe playing environment. 

What Players Can Expect

  • Instruction in core softball skills: throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, and base running
  • Guided, age-appropriate introduction to rules and game situations
  • Regular practices and scheduled league games
  • Emphasis on teamwork, confidence, and having fun
  • Opportunities for all players to participate and improve, regardless of experience level

Equipment & Uniforms

In general, players should bring:

  • A properly sized softball glove
  • A fielding mask
  • A batting helmet with face guard
  • A bat if they have one
  • A water bottle labeled with their name
  • Comfortable athletic clothing and appropriate footwear

WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE AGREEMENT


ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISK

I, the undersigned parent/guardian of the above-named participant, understand and acknowledge that participation in Greentown Girls Softball League (GGSL) activities, including but not limited to practices, games, tournaments, and related events, involves inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical injury from contact with other players, equipment, or the playing surface
  • Falls, collisions, or being struck by balls or bats
  • Weather-related risks, including heat, cold, or lightning
  • Travel to and from league events

I understand that these risks cannot be completely eliminated, even with proper supervision and safety measures.


ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I voluntarily assume full responsibility for any risks of loss, property damage, or personal injury, including serious injury or death, that may be sustained by my child as a result of participation in GGSL activities.


WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

In consideration of my child being permitted to participate in GGSL activities, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue:

Greentown Girls Softball League (GGSL), its board members, officers, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and affiliates

from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury that may be sustained by my child, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, while participating in any GGSL activity.


MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION

I authorize GGSL representatives, including coaches and volunteers, to obtain emergency medical treatment for my child if I cannot be reached. I understand that I am responsible for any medical expenses incurred.

 

ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND SIGNATURE

I have read this Waiver of Liability and fully understand its terms. I acknowledge that I am signing this agreement freely and voluntarily, and that it is intended to be a complete and unconditional release of liability.
